Short-row colorwork

Short-row colorwork is a simple and fun way to knit color patterns without having to keep track of multiple colors at once. Plus, it's seriously addictive - once you learn to see the logic, you'll never want to stop, just one... more... chart... 😅

This course is suitable for both beginners to short rows who want support getting started, and for those who may have tried it before and want more tips and tricks or perhaps help moving forward with a certain pattern. There will also be an opportunity for inspiration from Linnea's patterns, and perhaps even a little behind the scenes of how a pattern comes to be.

The only prerequisite you need is to be able to cast on and knit garter stitch. For the course, you need to bring wool yarn in at least two contrasting colors and suitable needles to knit a swatch. To start knitting a pattern, you also need to bring the intended suitable yarn and needles for it.

A pattern of your choice by Linnea is included in the course fee, and a download code will be sent out before the course, so you can of course choose materials accordingly or purchase them in the store before the course.

About Linnea Ornstein

Linnea is a lawyer but also designs knitting patterns as a sideline, and has been doing so for 15 years. Her patterns are often recognized for their leaf motifs in short rows. As a lawyer, the focus is on rules, but in knitting, it's more about knowing the rules so you can break them! This is where short-row colorwork fits perfectly, as it pushes the boundaries of what you can do with just garter stitches.

Bring with you

  • Yarn (preferably wool) that is approx. 200-300 m/100g, in two different colors. Approx. 25g per color is plenty.
  • Suitable needles, preferably circular needles, approx. 4-5 mm

Yarn and needles are available for purchase on site.

    Practical information about the course

    Location: The Lab by Tant Hulda, Stora Gråbrödersgatan 12, Lund
    (opposite the Tant Hulda shop).

    Time: Sunday, May 25, 2025, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

    Prerequisites: You should be able to cast on and knit garter stitch.

    Price: 1400 SEK/participant. Coffee and snacks are included throughout the day. Lunch can be brought or purchased in town.

    The number of places is limited and can only be purchased here in the webshop.
    Places cannot be booked by phone, email, or in the store.

    Registration is binding and non-refundable.
