Pattern Knitting Workshop Weekend with Johanna Wallin

A course on how to knit patterns in multiple colors without getting tangled. We will discuss pattern traditions and knitting techniques. We will calculate pattern repeats and how to adapt existing patterns to garments.

Swatching material and course documentation are included in the course.

We will discuss a bit about the history of techniques and how we can use them in today's modern garments and applications. Combining colors for your knitted garment is both fun and provides many different expressions.

Sparklingly delicate, delightfully sheer, or elegantly natural. We will explore various ways to colorize. We will try out which colors go well together, but fortunately, it's up to each individual to decide what is beautiful and ugly. We will look at how to achieve maximum contrast or if you prefer a color scheme with close nuances. Many inspiring garments will be on display.

About Johanna Wallin

Johanna Wallin is a trained designer with a great love for knitting. She enjoys working with old pattern traditions that fit here and now, preferably with lots of color.

Author of the book "Sticka Nordiska mönster" (Knit Nordic Patterns) and received a master's letter in hand-knitting in 2020.

Practical information about the course weekend

Location: The Lab, Stora Gråbrödersgatan 12, Lund (opposite the Tant Hulda store).

Time: Saturday and Sunday, May 30-31, 2026 (Saturday 9 AM-4 PM, Sunday 9 AM-3 PM).

Prerequisites: This is not a beginner's course; you must be able to knit. You should be able to knit knit and purl stitches and have tried knitting in the round.

Swatching material and course documentation are included. Paper, pens, and scissors are available for loan.

Bring: Double-pointed needles 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 mm (or circular needles if you knit magic loop). Bring accessories you usually use. And feel free to bring knitted garments that you have inherited, received, or found and want to learn how they were made.

Needles, yarn, and accessories are also available for purchase on site and are not included in the cost.

You can bring lunch or buy it in town. Coffee and snacks are included.

Price: 2800 SEK/participant.

The number of places is limited, and places can only be purchased here in the webshop.
Places cannot be booked by phone, email, or in the store.
