Design your own yoke sweater with Anna Bauer

Sweaters with patterned yokes are familiar from many different knitting traditions, ranging from the legendary Bohus stickning sweaters to the rustic Icelandic ones. The construction itself invites variation and play with color and pattern.

During the course, we will design, sketch, plan, and begin knitting our own sweaters (or cardigans) with patterned yokes.

Yarn and accessories will be available for purchase on-site.

About Anna

Anna Bauer is a textile artist trained at the School of Design and Crafts, living and working in Gothenburg. She has published the books "Hönsestrik a love story", "Hönsestrik forever" with Roos & Tegnér publishing house, and "Färga garn och sticka" (Dye yarn and knit) together with Eva Zethraeus, as well as "Kofta och klänning" (Cardigan and dress) and "Anna Bauers mönsterbok" (Anna Bauer's pattern book) with Polaris publishing house.

Practical information about the course weekend

Location: The Lab by Tant Hulda, Stora Gråbrödersgatan 12, Lund (opposite the Tant Hulda store).

Time: Saturday and Sunday, December 12-13, 2026 (Saturday 9 AM - 4 PM, Sunday 9 AM - 3 PM)

Prerequisites: This is not a beginner's course; you must know how to knit.

Bring: Knitting needles, circular needles, and double-pointed needles sizes 3.5 and 4.

Yarn (at least 3-5 different colors) in worsted weight category (180-200 meters/100 grams), e.g., Iloyarn 2 from Tant Hulda or Sheepsoft, Wooltrace, Loch Lomond and others that you can also find at Tant Hulda.

Also good to bring: sketching materials such as colored pencils and an eraser, measuring tape.

Yarn and accessories are available for purchase on-site and are not included in the cost.

Fika (coffee/tea and a snack) is included, as well as some course materials. You can bring your own lunch or buy it in town.
